The Lyrian Spinesnake

“A few days after my encounter with the Clinger, We had left the relative security of the ruined city and ventured into a vast meadow. There was a definite shift in the number of plant eating animals here. One of these creatures was the strange looking Spinesnake. That name was something of a misnomer, all we had seen of it was its head poking out of the long grass and we kind of jumped the gun. Unfortunately, by the time we had thought of a different name, the wide-ban data collection device had already registered the name.
The Spinesnake walked up to a tree and drilled its…I dunno snout I guess, into the bark and its body started fluctuating in and out as it sucked out the contents of the tree.
Although strange looking this animal wasn’t really all that interesting to watch, it just sort of stood there ignoring us.”
